WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A pursuit led the Washington State Patrol to a cache of drugs and a ghost gun over the weekend.
Trooper Anthony Reese said troopers pulled over a car on the I-5 southbound off-ramp at Slater Road for a traffic infraction early Sunday morning, July 10th.
The driver, 31-year-old Jeffrey Eagleman, was asked to step out of the car after a trooper saw narcotics inside.
Eagleman sped off, eventually crashing the car in a ditch at Curtis and Marietta Roads.
He was taken into custody following a brief foot chase.
Investigators recovered over 500 fentanyl pills and a ghost gun from the vehicle.
Ghost guns are unregistered homemade weapons that don’t have a serial number and don’t require background checks for purchase.
Eagleman is a convicted felon, with past charges including child molestation.
