BURLINGTON, Wash. — A person was seriously injured after being hit by a car on I-5 in Skagit County.

State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant told the Skagit Valley Herald that the pedestrian was struck at about 8 p.m. near where I-5 crosses over Highway 20.

He said witnesses reported seeing the person jumping in and out of traffic, seemingly on purpose.

The victim was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital for treatment.
