BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Catalytic converter thefts are on the rise in Whatcom County.
The Bellingham Police Department says there were 13 thefts of the car part in November in the City of Bellingham alone.
The stolen parts are sold on the black market for a profit.
Police recommend car owners park in a garage or a well lit area and adjust car alarms to detect any vibrations that occur when someone saws off the catalytic converter.
