BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Customs and Border Protection officers from Bellingham helped a search and rescue team find a hiker missing on Twin Sisters after she got lost trying to summit the mountain.
The woman told dispatchers Sunday night she was lost, cold and that her phone was about to die.
Weather issues meant helicopter crews couldn’t search for her until Monday morning, but once they spotted her from the air they called in the Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team to hike up and help the woman.
Crews say the woman was disoriented and hypothermic when they got to her.
