ATLANTA, Georgia – The Centers for Disease control Friday expanded its warning on romaine lettuce prompted by a multistate E. coli outbreak, which includes Washington.
The outbreak, which stems from Yuma, Arizona grown produce, has so far affected 53 persons in 16 states.
The warning now covers all forms of romaine including whole hearts.
Affected states include Idaho, California, Alaska, Washington, and 12 others.
The CDC advises consumers to throw out any romaine lettuce in the home, since labels do not readily identify the growing region.
