BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Get ready to put down that cell phone when you’re driving.
A new law takes effect Sunday that prohibits you from holding electronic devices while behind the wheel.
Bellingham Traffic attorney Jonathon Rands says he isn’t sure if the new law really improves safety.
“You’re gonna clip it to your dash, which is legal. You’re gonna look at it, which is legal. But why is that any different than having it in your hand?”
You can touch your phone with a finger, but it can’t be in your hand.
You can’t even hold phones, tablets or other electronic gadgets when you’re stuck in traffic or sitting at a red light.
