SEATTLE, Wash. – A cellphone caught fire and forced the sudden evacuation of an Alaska Airlines flight at Sea-Tac Airport last Monday night.

KIRO 7 News talked with a passenger who was on board the flight from New Orleans when the fire broke out after the plane landed.

“The stewardess comes running up the aisle, and snags the fire extinguisher that’s hanging there in the front, and goes running back down again,” said the passenger. “They went through three fire extinguishers.”

The fire broke out while the plane was on the ground waiting for a gate.

The crew got the phone into a battery containment bag to put out the fire.

Everyone on board got off safely although some reported minor injuries.
