BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A former Bellingham officer had assault charges against him dismissed Tuesday after fulfilling court requirements.
Court documents show in December 2018, the judge ordered Sukhdev Dhaliwal to complete 230 hours of community service and, if he committed no other crimes for a year, the court would dismiss the charges against him.
Sukhdev and his brother Jagmeet were accused of attacking two other men in October 2017 related to a family dispute.
Jagmeet was found guilty and is appealing the decision.
Fellow officers had spoken highly of Sukhdev Dhaliwal and it was made clear during trial that he would try to get his job with Bellingham Police back.
