SEATTLE, Wash. — Family members of Chris Cornell are suing a doctor in Los Angeles they say overprescribed drugs, especially the anti-anxiety medication Lorazepam, to the rock singer, leading to his death.
Cornell, the frontman of Seattle-based band Soundgarden, was found dead after a concert in Detroit last year at age 52, and his death was ruled a suicide by hanging.
KOMO reports that Cornell’s widow and children accuse Dr. Robert Koblin “negligently and repeatedly” prescribed the singer “dangerous” substances that clouded his judgment, despite knowing he had a history of substance abuse.
Toxicology reports show Cornell had Lorazepam, barbiturates, caffeine, naloxone and a decongestant in his system when he died.
Dr. Koblin’s office had no comment.
