Ciao Thyme owner becomes Bellingham Schools culinary supervisor

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The owner of a local farm-to-table eatery is joining the food services team at Bellingham Public Schools.

The school district announced Mataio Gillis, chef and co-owner of downtown Bellingham’s Ciao Thyme, is their new culinary program supervisor.

With his help, they hope to ramp up the operations at the district’s new Central Kitchen to continue improving school food.

Gillis says he hopes to inspire a culture of healthy eaters.
