BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police are thankful after a number of people, including a Neighborhood Anti Crime Team, helped them locate and arrest a violent offender.

In a Facebook post, police say a man violently assaulted a woman early Wednesday morning, causing significant injuries

He displayed a knife at one point before running from the scene.

A lengthy K9 track was unsuccessful.

Police are familiar with the man and he has a warrant out for his arrest for arson.

Citizen tips informed police he was going to be at a restaurant at a certain time.

The post says officers confirmed the man was in the restaurant and cleared everyone out when the man went to the bathroom.

Officers had to use a baton to subdue the man after he refused their orders.

Police didn’t identify the suspect.
