BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Lake Whatcom Management Program will host its annual open-to-the-public Lake Whatcom Joint Councils and Commission meeting Wednesday at City Hall.

Consisting of members from Bellingham City Council, Whatcom County Council, and the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Board of Commissioners, the joint committee will review the challenges and triumphs for the maintenance of the watershed.

Councilmember Todd Donovan says the county and city have been accelerating efforts to clean up and protect the lake, but there’s still lots to be done.

They will discuss water quality trends, homeowner engagement, a new stormwater district and purchases of watershed lands.

Public comment is welcome.
