BELLINGHAM, Wash. — This Saturday, Bellingham and the County will hold an installation ceremony for the Arch of Healing and Reconciliation honoring immigrants from China, India and Japan.

The granite monument is also meant to recognize all immigrants who have come here since the 1800’s.

The arch is 12-feet high, made of 10-tons of solid red granite from India and is the first part of a larger project funded and planned by residents, including members of the Lynden Sikh Temple.

Bronze plaques will display when specific immigrant groups were targeted and forcibly removed with a short description of events surrounding these movements.

The ceremony is 10:30 to noon at Bellingham’s City Hall.
