BELLINGHAM, Wash. — It may seem like a sweet gesture or a nice pastime, but feeding wildlife is dangerous, and the City of Bellingham is cracking down on the practice.
On April 16th, the city is holding an educational forum on Bellingham’s black-tail deer population and the new deer and raccoon feeding ordinance.
Local game wardens have warned against feeding wildlife as they can become more aggressive, spread disease among themselves more easily and skew their population numbers.
Representatives and speakers will work to educate attendees on why the ordinance to prohibit people from feeding wildlife is good for both the animals and us.
