BLAINE, Wash. — Budget cuts reduced police training in Blaine this year, but now officers are in luck.

The city of Blaine recently accepted a $20,000 donation from the Stroum Family Foundation.

According to the Northern Light, City Manager Michael Jones says the funds will help alleviate some of the cuts in the city’s annual budget.

He says that although the donation is unrestricted, it will likely go toward additional police department training.

A BPD spokesperson said that because the funds are unrestricted, they will be used for both law enforcement and office personnel training to allow the department to continue supporting the community.
