FERNDALE, Wash. – The City of Ferndale has fired police officer Scott Langton.

Langton was arrested on July 26th and charged with Attempted Child Molestation in the second degree in Whatcom County Superior Court.

The Bellingham Police Department is continuing to investigate and the City of Ferndale is also conducting an internal investigation.

The city says they terminated Langton’s employment because he is unable to carry out his duties.

The City of Ferndale had previously placed Langton on leave after he was alleged to have contacted a far-right extremist group following the January 6th Capitol riots.
