BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom County’s newest celebrities – murder hornets – are drawing national media attention.
CNBC reporter Jane Wells visited our Cascade Radio Group studios after hearing Brad and John on KISM had acquired several specimens of the invasive species.
Wells said she was here to move the story forward as it enters its third year, finding out what’s been learned, what is being done to stop it and what kind of threat it really poses.
John from the KISM morning show says they were contacted by the owner of the property near Blaine where the first nest was discovered last fall.
He offered the morning show a murder hornet, which was gladly accepted.
Matt from Whidbey Island Taxidermy volunteered to preserve a number of specimens.
Wells says people at her network are obsessed with the story of the murder hornets.
