PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The search for a pilot gone missing in the Juan de Fuca Strait has been suspended.
The man took off mid-day Tuesday in his Cessna 170A from Ketchikan, Alaska, headed for Port Angeles.
USCG 13th District Search and Rescue Chief Nathan Coulter said suspending search efforts is always an extremely tough decision.
Since the mayday came in at 5 p.m. Tuesday, crews covered nearly square 1200 miles in a 23 hour search.
