PORT ANGELES, Wash. – The U. S. Coast Guard says one of its helicopters narrowly avoided a collision with a recreational drone near the Port Angeles airport on Saturday.
The aircrew was doing a low altitude training exercise when the drone came within 50 feet of their helicopter.
The Coast Guard reminds drone operators that they have to be authorized to fly within 5 miles of an airport, must yield right of way to all manned aircraft and keep their drones within line of sight at all times.
