BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Coast Guard crews rescued two kayakers near the San Juan Islands after they fell in the water Saturday evening.
The Coast Guard says a third kayaker made it to Clark Island, west of Lummi Island, and called 911, saying his friends’ kayaks had capsized and they had drifted north of the island.
Crews rescued the kayakers, who were wearing lifejackets, and transferred them to a Bellingham Fire and Rescue Boat crew where EMTs began treating them for hypothermia.
The third kayaker was later picked up from Clark Island.
