FERNDALE, Wash. — The first comment period has opened for updated regulations on the Nooksack watershed, according to the Department of Ecology.
Ecology is seeking feedback on the rulemaking process of 2018’s streamflow restoration law.
That law was passed in response to the Hirst Decision, and it regulates the next twenty years of water consumption for homes built on the Nooksack watershed.
Three public open houses hosted by Ecology to discuss the rulemaking process and preliminary drafts will be April 22nd at the Ferndale Library 1-3:00 PM, and the Lynden Library 6-8:00 PM, and on April 23rd at Ecology’s Padilla Bay Reserve in Mount Vernon 9:30-11:30 AM.
