BELLINGHAM, WA – A community group looking to get Birch Bay incorporated into its own city is hoping for more involvement from the public as they are set to vote on proposed boundaries at a meeting next week.

The Northern Light reports the Birch Bay incorporation group is up to 77 registered members and have been meeting monthly since June to determine the feasibility of creating of what would be the fourth largest city in Whatcom County.

The movement began out of frustration from residents who felt the county wasn’t adequately representing them.

They see incorporation as a way to have more control over their growing community and want as much input as possible from anyone that may be affected by the change.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday Nov. 15, 5:30 p.m. at Christ the King Community Church in Birch Bay and will be open to the public.
