BELLINGHAM, Wash. — One of the men being taken off death row includes Clark Richard Elmore who raped and murdered his girlfriend’s 14-year-old daughter in Whatcom County 20 years ago.
County prosecutor Dave McEachran implored Governor Inslee in December 2016 to focus on how Kristy Lynn Ohnstad suffered and allow the upcoming execution of Elmore due to the case’s horrific nature, but was denied.
Elmore criticized police search efforts and attempted to flee the state before admitting he raped and murdered the girl on April 17, 1995 and left her body on the south end of Lake Samish.
