SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle police arrested three men in a Sunday clash. The men were among counter-protesters marching toward a rally in the city’s downtown, one day after violent clashes between white Supremacists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Counter-protesters marched toward a rally organized by the conservative group Patriot Prayer. Patriot Prayer is supportive of President Donald Trump.
Police used pepper spray and blast balls to disperse crowds, a counter-protester said
“They blocked the street off in three directions. And we just tried to get through, and they started macing people, threw concussion grenades at us,” counter-protester Anthony Gazotti said.
Police say fireworks were thrown at officers, and that they saw some people amid the peaceful counter-protest carrying axe handles and two-by-fours.
The Patriot Prayer rally stayed mostly peaceful on Sunday as police provided a barricade.
KOMO reports the rally had an open mic where people could voice their views, including those who denounced white-Supremacists and Nazi’s.
