NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A country music icon with Whatcom County ties has just released her 50th studio album.

Loretta Lynn lived in Custer as a 14-year old teen wife before going on to create a string of hits starting in the 1960s including “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

She was hospitalized with a stroke nearly three years ago and recovered, but has kept on making music.

Her 50th album “Still Woman Enough” is called a celebration of the women’s movement in the country music genre that Lynn helped pioneer.

On it, Lynn re-recorded “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and included new material in a track featuring Carrie Underwood and Reba McIntire.
