BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom County Executive Satpal Sidhu submitted his recommended biennial 2021-2022 budget to the County Council Friday.
The county anticipates keeping staff and services at current levels.
Financial projections show a decline in revenues compared to pre-COVID levels; however, with a hiring freeze and other cost-saving measures in place, the county does not expect a need for additional staff reductions or a reduction in services.
The budget also includes new initiatives addressing racial equity issues, water settlement negotiations, and services for children and families.
