BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Whatcom County Health Officer has recommended a remote start for schools.

In a release Tuesday night, Dr. Greg Stern says he “expects that our current infection rate and its ongoing increase will not slow or reverse enough to allow for safe operations this fall.”

Stern cited the risk of spread of COVID-19 within schools that may amplify transmission in the community.

Stern says given lead time needed to prepare for school operations, administrators should start those preparations now.
