WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Which was hotter in Whatcom County — the recent heat wave or home sales in the 2nd quarter?
Troy Muljat with Muljat Group Realtors says it’s a tough call.
“Prices just continue to skyrocket. There’s no doubt,” says Muljat. “We’re seeing between 20 and 30 percent increases in each submarket.”
He says the countywide median price was over $540,000 and hit $625,000 in Bellingham.
Inventory is starting to pick up a bit but people aren’t rushing to sell.
“A month ago there was 40 homes on the market. Today there’s 60,” says Muljat. “So, you could say there’s a 50 percent increase but really anything below a couple hundred homes on the market is still very low.”
Homes prices soared and newly-listed properties took an astonishingly little time to sell, with a home on the market for an average of just 27 days.
In Bellingham, that number was 17 days. Ferndale 15 days, and in Sudden Valley, homes sold in just six days.
