OLYMPIA, Wash. — A current check on Whatcom County coronavirus numbers shows the stats still holding mostly steady.
State health department data through Monday shows new first time positive virus tests holding at the same 7-day average level as last November before the holiday surge began.
In the past month, 3 county deaths have been attributed to COVID-19, on a total of 21 reported hospitalizations.
Those numbers also track the death and hospitalization rates most recently seen in early November.
Meanwhile, flu activity in Washington remains suppressed this year at the point in time past the normal peak of the season.
The latest department of health update through April 3rd shows doctor and clinic visits for flu symptoms are at a small fraction of the prior years tracked.
And there have no deaths attributed to the flu statewide for the season starting in October.
Over the past 8 years, the health department had recorded an average 137 flu deaths statewide by this time.
