BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Whatcom County judge has denied Timothy Bass’ motion to present evidence that he says would shed doubt on his conviction for the murder of Mandy Stavik.
Superior Court Judge Rob Olson denied Bass’ motion to present evidence of another possible suspect in the 1989 rape and murder.
The Bellingham Herald reports Olson found that the evidence was available to the defense before Bass’ trial in 2019.
He also ruled against Bass’ request that he be released from prison and granted a new trial.
Amanda “Mandy” Stavik disappeared while jogging near her home near Acme November 24th, 1989 and the 18-year-old’s body was found in the Nooksack River three days later.
