BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The first known COVID-19 case at a local homeless shelter has been confirmed.
The person reportedly stayed one night at Lighthouse Mission Ministries’ Base Camp before testing positive for the virus on Saturday.
Officials believe that they contracted COVID-19 at the Bellingham City Hall tent encampment where they had been staying previously.
The organization says the virus was detected quickly and the person is now in quarantine.
All close contacts at Base Camp have been moved to the isolation and quarantine facility on Byron Street in Bellingham.
