WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Health reported 14 more positive Whatcom County COVID-19 tests Friday, bringing the seven-day total to 114.

No new deaths were reported.

Earlier in the week, Whatcom County Health Director Erika Lautenbach told KGMI that new cases have been trending toward younger people under the age of 30, who likely have been bringing the virus to their workplaces.

Meanwhile, Governor Inslee announced he is pausing moving counties to the fourth phase of his reopening plan as COVID-19 cases continue to increase.

Saturday, reports said the state has reached more than 30,800 total confirmed cases with more than 480 new cases reported Friday.

Inslee said the rising numbers make it impossible to move to phase four which has little to no restrictions.
