OLYMPIA, Wash. — More people are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting Wednesday, March 17th.
The state Department of Health reports that individuals in Phase 1B Tier 2 are now eligible to be vaccinated in Washington.
That includes high-risk workers in certain settings, like grocery stores, food processing facilities, public transit, agriculture and more.
People age 16 and over who are pregnant or who have a disability that puts them at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 are also eligible.
Providers in Whatcom County expect to receive over 5700 first doses of vaccine this week, and almost that many second doses.
This as the rate of local coronavirus infections, hospitalizations and deaths continues to fall in Whatcom County.
As of Monday, the 7-day rolling average of new first time positives had dropped to 21 per day.
in the past week , four county hospitalizations and no deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.
