OLYMPIA, Wash. – Cases of COVID-19 have been on a steady decline since the start of 2022 and the CDC says that’s good news for most of Washington State .
According to the CDC’s Community Levels dashboard, Whatcom County is among 22 counties that have been designated as “low risk” areas.
The most recent data from the state Department of Health shows that as of February 21st, only 38 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Whatcom County.
The CDC recently updated their masking guidelines for “low risk” communities, recommending masks in those areas instead of requiring them.
On Monday, February 28th, Governor Jay Inslee announced that mask restrictions would be lifted statewide after March 11th.
