OLYMPIA, Wash. – While the state Department of Health cheers the fact that 70% of Washington residents age 16 and over have begun vaccination, concern in growing over an increasing COVID case count.

Health officials says COVID-19 cases are on the rise, especially among those vulnerable to the new Delta variant.

They’re not sure if the increase is linked to the state’s re-opening on June 30th or the July 4th weekend, but they’re urging everyone who can to get vaccinated.

The state’s seven day average was in the 340’s at the end of June but has climbed to 510 this week.
