OLYMPIA, Wash. – COVID-19 cases have been trending upward across Washington state.

KIRO7 reports that King County has gone from a “green” to a “yellow” level of cases, with about 500 new cases per day.

That is way below the 6,500 daily cases they were seeing during the high of the omicron surge in January.

Here in Whatcom County, cases have been slowly ticking up according to the latest DOH data.

Statewide, the weekly average has more than doubled since late March.

Hospitalizations and deaths have remained low even as case counts have increased.
