ANACORTES, Wash. — One of the largest maritime cranes on the West Coast is in Anacortes to pull up a boat that sank in the wind storm earlier this month.
The former Alaska ferry Chilkat broke from its moorings at Lovrics Seacraft Inc. and went down in the storm.
The Chilkat was the first vessel in Alaska’s state ferry system.
The storm also damaged the old wooden schooner La Merced at Lovrics.
La Merced is the beached landmark that serves as a breakwater near the ferry terminal and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
