ELLENSBURG, Wash. — State Representative Matt Manweller (R) was fired by Central Washington University Tuesday following an outside investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct.

Manweller has been accused of sexual harassment at the school in the past and some women who interacted with him in the legislature have said his conduct made them uncomfortable.

The university released a statement saying it has provided written notice of his termination, effective immediately, from his faculty position as a political science professor.

Manweller said the action came “as no surprise” and he’ll be suing both the university and the investigator in the coming days.
