BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A person on a bicycle was hit and killed by an Amtrak train at the F Street crossing in Bellingham Tuesday morning, March 26.
An Amtrak spokesperson says the southbound train hit the male bike rider at 8:24 AM.
Bellingham Police Lieutenant Claudia Murphy says the crossing arms were down and all warning signals were working.
She says the man kept approaching the tracks even when a flagger on a work crew warned him.
The train was traveling on BNSF tracks and a spokesman says this is the fifth person to be hit and killed on the company’s tracks in Washington this year.
