BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A lawyer for protesters who blocked I-5 in Bellingham is pushing back against prosecutors who want information from the group’s Facebook page.

Attorney Mike Brodsky tells KING-5 a warrant asking for “all profile information” from those who visited the page over a ten day period violates the Constitution.

“It makes people a little bit afraid to express themselves. It makes people afraid to get on that website, or to become join that organization.”

The demonstration in February was meant to show solidarity with the Standing Rock Indian Tribe over a proposed oil pipeline.

The state patrol says it led to three car crashes and injured two people.

Prosecutors say they’ll only use pertinent information from the Facebook page.

The judge is expected to rule later this summer.
