FERNDALE, Wash – If you commute or deliver to Cherry Point industries from the south by way of Slater Road west from I-5, you’ll have a detour soon.
Whatcom County Public Works says Slater Road will be closed both ways at the Jordan Creek culvert starting Monday, May 1.
Detours will add several minutes each way daily to commuters and more time than that for truckers who will have to route north on I-5 to Grandview Road west, then back south on Kickerville Road.
The culvert is being replaced with a bridge; work is expected to take through the end of the year and possibly into 2018.
