WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Consider planning a hike in one of Washington’s state parks on Wednesday.

In honor of the late Billy Frank Jr.’s birthday on March 9th, areas that typically require a Discover Pass for day use visits are open for free use to the public.

Billy Frank Jr. was an environmental activist and advocate for expanded treaty rights for indigenous people nationwide.

Other upcoming free days on public lands include March 19th and April 22nd.
