The defending national champion Western Washington University women’s soccer team opens the regular season on the road Thursday. The Vikings face Notre Dame de Namur at 11am in Belmont California.
Western enters the 2017 season ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II preseason poll. The Vikings are coming off a 24-0-1 season and a fifth consecutive GNAC regular-season title in 2016.
WWU is 6-1-0 all-time vs. Notre Dame de Namur.
Western will play Holy Names on Saturday in Moraga, Calif. The first home game for the Vikings isn’t until September 16th when they play host to Western Oregon at Harrington Field.
