SEATTLE, Wash. – Washington State’s congressional delegates have called on FIFA leadership and tournament organizers to consider Seattle as the host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In their request the delegates cited the Puget Sound being home to the third-most attended National Women’s Soccer League team, Tacoma’s OL Reign, as well as the second-most attended Major League Soccer team, two-time league champion Seattle Sounders.

The delegation also made sure to mention the 57,000 hotel rooms in the Seattle area connected by the expanding light rail, as well as the many tourism and recreational activities that exist for traveling visitors.

FIFA is expected to finalize their selection for the host city by summer next year.
