OLYMPIA, Wash. — EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt resigned.
Washington Senator Maria Cantwell said it’s a great day for salmon, clean air and Mother Earth.
Sen. Cantwell is an outspoken defender of the environment in Congress. She is aiming for reelection to another six year term in the Senate and is challenged by Republican Susan Hutchison.
Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson said Pruitt’s resignation is long overdue. Ferguson’s office has led or joined nearly a dozen lawsuits against the EPA since Pruitt has been in charge.
In a letter to the President released Thursday, Pruitt said that the unrelenting attacks on him and his family have taken a sizable toll on them.
