LYNDEN, Wash. — A Whatcom County business was penalized for violating environmental regulations.
The Washington State Department of Ecology issued nearly $500,000 in penalties in October through December 2018, including a $1000 fine for Ferndale Ready Mix & Gravel.
The DOE reports the fine is for unpermitted discharge of stormwater and process water at the company’s Lynden location.
The money owed may be reduced after a settlement or court rulings and collected funds will go to the state’s general fund or to dedicated pollution prevention accounts.
