OLYMPIA, Wash. — Though this week has brought relief from hot and dry weather, Washington is still in a drought.

The Department of Ecology reports about half of the state’s rivers are flowing below normal for this time of year and non-irrigated crops are showing the stress of extended dryness.

A map from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows part of southwest Washington is classified as being in severe drought while the rest of the state is either abnormally dry or in a moderate drought.

The National Weather Service predicts weather in the mid-70s this weekend in Bellingham with temperatures hitting 80 on Monday.
