BLAINE, Wash. – A Blaine man is in jail after deputies say he tried to kill his wife and injured two family members in the process.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Brian Pukaluk attacked his wife Tuesday night when she tried to call for help during an argument and destroyed her phone.
When the woman hid in a bathroom, deputies say Pukaluk tried to break the door down and smashed his 68-year-old mother into the wall when she tried to intervene, then shoved his 71-year-old father when he stepped in.
Sheriff Bill Elfo says Pukaluk began shooting at his wife with a shotgun when she ran to call 911.
Elfo says Pukaluk then crashed his car into both his wife’s and father’s vehicles before driving into a ditch and running from the scene, but he was later arrested with meth on his person by State Patrol.
Pukaluk is held on $3 million bail.
