BLAINE, Wash. — The design team behind the new Blaine Library has revealed their final plans for the building.

The Northern Light reports that the concept is for a library nearly twice the size of the current one.

At the reveal on February 11, the team brought a virtual reality headset that allowed people to take a virtual tour of the space.

It incorporates suggestions that the team heard during a three-month public input process, including more space, a larger collection, more community gathering space, and more children’s books.

The Whatcom County Library System hopes to fund its construction through a joint levy that would also fund a new library in Birch Bay.
