BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Department of Homeland Security investigation has led to the arrest of two men in Bellingham.
Officials with the Homeland Security Investigations and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said that they were tipped off to a major drug drop-off that was set to occur in Bellingham.
Agents observed 43-year-old Alejandro Macias-Velazquez drop off a duffle bag in a parking lot on July 7th.
That bag was found to contain over 91,000 fentanyl pills hidden in potato chip containers.
43-year-old Juan Hernandez-Hernandez was identified as the suspect who organized the drop off.
The pair were arrested on July 7th and transferred into federal custody.
Both men were indicted on Friday, July 22nd.
